FATHER'S FOREBODING

Story of Haslingden man who felt his son was killed.

SIX MONTHS AT THE FRONT - A HASLINGDEN WINDING MASTER REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN KILLED.

Private John Wood, King's Own Royal Lancashire Regiment, whose wife and child live at 12 Lincoln Place, Haslingden, is reported to have been killed in action on July 29th, 1917.
He joined up on November 15th 1916, and went to the front on March 3rd, 1917.
A winding master at the Commercial Mill, Haslingden, he was 32 years old, was on the Salem roll of honour, and was treasurer of the Band Of Hope.  His parents live at 149, Blackburn Road, Haslingden.
