Newspaper Report:

Information has been received of the death from wounds in France of Private James E. Brown, Border Regiment, on October 24th 1918.
In civil life the deceased soldier was employed as a weaver at Spring Vale Mill, and resided at Pleasant Street, Haslingden.  He joined the colours in May, 1916.
His name is on the roll of honour at St. Mary's R.C. Church. He was 19 years of age, and was well known and highly respected.
