Garnett, Joseph Atkinson - Sergeant (21546)

Sgt Joseph A Garnett
11th Battalion,
Cheshire Regiment,
Killed in Action
4th February 1917,
Age 30
Buried Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension Nord.

Mrs. Garnett, of 5 Back Hud Rake, Haslingden has been notified by the War Office that her youngest son, Sergeant J.A. Garnett of the Cheshire Regiment, was killed in action in France on February 4th.  He enlisted over two years ago and had been in the trenches for seven months.  Of a jovial disposition, Sergt. Garnett was always ready to give a helping hand when needed.  He was formerly a member of the Men's Bible Class at St. Andrew's Mission Church.  He was a single man and about 30 years of age.  Great sympathy is felt for Mrs. Garnett, whose eldest son, Private A. Garnett, of the King's Own Royal lancasters, was killed at Ypres near two years ago.
