Newspaper Memorials:

In loving memory of my dear Husband, Private Ernest Barnes, R.N.D., who died of wounds in France, April 24th, 1917.

"One year has passed, oh, how I miss him,
Friends may think the wound is healed,
But they little know the sorrow,
Deep within my heart concealed.

I will meet him again in the morning,
On the dawn of that beautiful day,
When the time of watching and waiting,
And all sadness is passed away."

From his sorrowing Wife Alice, 1 Peel Street.

"Sleep on, dear brother, and take your rest,
For God takes those He loves the best;
On earth there's strife, in heaven rest;
They miss you most who loved you best."

From his sorrowing Sister and Brother in law, Betsy and Ernest and nephew Allan, 24 Fields Road, Haslingden.

"Fondly I loved them, they are dear to me still,
But in grief I must bend to God's holy will.
My sorrow is great, my loss hard to bear,
But angels, dear loved ones, will guard you with care."

From Sister and nephew, 24 Fields Road, Sykeside.
