A well attended service was held on Sunday evening September 22nd to the memory of Pte. Harold Nuttall. Harold was a native of the village attending the day school up to the time of commencing word in the card-room at Messrs. Anderton and Halstead's Mill and the Sunday School up to his enlistment in October 1914. He served in Egypt and the Dardanelles and was transferred to France twelve months ago where he met his death on July 26th at the age of 23. He was of a quiet retiring disposition, much esteemed by his workmates and friends. To his parents who now reside in Radcliffe, we extend our sincere sympathy. May god give them the strength to bear their trial.
