Newspaper Report:

A military funeral was accorded at Haslingden Cemetery on Saturday afternoon to James O'Hara, formerly of Rakefoot, Haslingden, who died in the Union Infirmary.  Deceased was 49, and had been a regular soldier, serving in the Citral, Burmah, and Black Mountains Campaigns.  He received his discharge whilst serving in the present war.  Among those who attended the funeral were the Mayor (Councillor Russell), who had taken an active interest in the making of the arrangements; Revs. Father Hunt (who officiated), A.F. Hall (Wesleyan), and A.J. Keeley (U.M.). hospital chaplains, fourteen wounded soldiers from the Pike Law Military Hospital, who formed the firing party; ex Private Brady, of the Scottish Borderer's, who sounded the "Last Post" at the graveside; and from the Haslingden Irish League Club there were Mr. J. Jennings (president), Private Albert Nicholson, Private L Riley, Private P. Cain, Messrs. Michael Walsh, J. Gilmartin, P. Tighe, T. Tuddy, P. McNulty, Jas Durkin, J. Walsh, J. Warburton, J. Messrs. W. Clark, T. Mulvin, J. Grady, T. Tondra, and J. Durkin.  Mr. J. Hayes, of the United Service Club, attended the earlier part of the funeral.
