Newspaper Report:

Official intimation is to hand that Lance Corporal Thomas Alfred Corlett (who would have been 37 to-morrow) whose wife (a daughter of Mrs. Crook, Blackburn Road) and two boys live at Hud Hey Road, has been killed in action.
Lance-Corporal Corlett was a native of St. Michael's , Isle of Man, where his father is a farmer.  He came to Haslingden to be tailor with Mr. Drake, who had known him in the Island, later worked for Messrs. W. Cowpe and Son, and had been with the Haslingden Industrial Co-operative Society for some time when two years ago last June he joined up.  He joined the Flying Corps, but was afterwards transferred to the 23rd London Regiment.  He went out to France twelve months ago.  He was in the choir of St. Andrew's Mission Chapel (Haslingden Parish Church), and president of the Accrington Manx Society.  He was held in very high esteem by all who knew him.
