Newspaper Report:

Mrs. Entwistle, of 9 Musbury Road, Helmshore, has been officially informed by the War Office, that her husband, Private Thomas Edward Entwistle, R.A.M.C., has died from penumonia, at the 19th Stationary Hospital, Port Amelia, South Africa.  Private Entwistle, who was 25 years of age, joined the R.A.M.C., in October 1915, and received the early part of his training at Chisleworth Camp, Salisbury Plain, subsequently being transferred to Blackpool.  He was drafted out to France in August, 1916, but contracted diptheria whilst on active service, and was invalided home to England in the following February.  In November, 1917, he was drafted out again, and went to British East Africa.
Deceased was on a bright and cheery disposition, and was greatly respected by all with whom he came in contact.  Closely connected with Musbury Church Sunday School, which he regularly attended, his name appears on the roll of honour.
In a letter to Mrs. Entwistle, Mr. E. Hargreaves, in conveying the sympathies of the school, and the C.E.M.S., in the great loss she has sustained, speaks very highly of Private Entwistle, especially of the bright and optimistic letters, which he has received from him from time to time, and how he looked forward with great pleasure to being at home and school again.  He was employed at Park Mill, Helmshore.  His brother William paid the supreme sacrifice on September 2nd last, whilst another brother, Robert, is still in France.

Newspaper Memorials:

In loving memory of my dear husband, Private Thomas Edward Entwistle, who died, December 15th 1918, from pneumonia, whilst serving with the Forces in East Africa.

"God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain;
But God hath promised, strength from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love."

Ever remebered by his loving wife, Linda, 9, Musbury Road, Helmshore.

"Fresh in our hearts his memory clings,
Yet still our grief is sore,
But each passing year will nearer bring,
That day we'll meet once more."

From his loving Mother, Brother and Sister,
260, Holcombe Road, Helmshore.

"May the heavenly winds blow softly,
O'er that sweet and hallowed spot,
Though the sea divides his grave from us,
He will never be forgot."

From his Mother in law, Mrs. Mawdsley, Musbury Road, Helmshore.

"Dear husband, I'll miss you as days go by,
No flowers can I place on the grave where you lie,
For the dark waters keep us apart,
But your everloving face still lives in my heart."

From his sorrowing Wife, Linda, Musbury Road, Helmshore.

"We little thought when we said good-bye,
We parted for e ver and you were to die;
Oh, the grief that we feel words cannot tell,
For we could not be with you to bid you farewell.

Too far away thy grave to see,
Yet we will always think of thee."

From Mother, Brother and Sister.

"Upright and just in all his ways,
Honest and faithful to the end of his days."

From his Mother in law, Mrs. Mawdsley.

"The midnight star shines on the grave,
Of one whom we would have liked to save,
For all of us he did his best,
May God grant him eternal rest."

Miss Wellock, Blackburn Road, Haslingden.
