The deceased was 27 years of age, assisted his father in a greengrocery business, and was a sidesman at St. Andrew's Church Mission.

Newspaper Memorials:

In loving memory of our dear Son, Pte. Arthur Pickup, of the East Lancashire Regiment, who died of wounds on May 24th 1917, age 28 years.

"Bravely he went at England's call,
He took his task and did his best;
His duty done, though he did fall,
He was one of England's best."

From Father and Mother, 111, Bury Road, Haslingden.

"His heart was good, his spirit brave,
He slumbers now in a soldier's grave."

From his loving brother Harry (in France) and Sister in law Lizzie, 7 Bank Mill Street, Haslingden.

"Like ivy on the withered oak,
When all things else decay,
My love for you will still keep green,
And never fade away."

Fondly remembered by Mary, of 4 Esk Bank, Langtown, and all at 7 Whitaker's Terrace, Haslingden.

"For many years in friendship's chain,
We had been linked together;
But oh, that chain is broken now,
One link has gone for ever."

Ever remembered by Sarah and Dick (in France)
