Newspaper Report:

Private Richard Ernest Shenton, East Lancashire Regiment, who died of wounds in a hospital near Warrington, on November 7th, 1917, was buried at Haslingden Parish Churchyard on Monday.
"The Last Post" was sounded and three volleys were fired over the body in Cheshire before its removal.  Thirty five years of age, the deceased leaves a wife and daughter at 99, Manchester Road, Haslingden.  He was a weaver at Stott's Mill, Syke Side, and was connected with Laneside Church.
