SERGEANT INSTRUCTOR JOHN OGDEN

Mrs. Ogden of 7 Coal Hey Street, Haslingden, has received official notice that her son, Sergeant Instructor John Ogden, East Lancashire Regiment, has died of wounds in Rouen Hospital, France.
The deceased enlisted with the territorials in 1914, and was Sergeant Instructor at various places in England until going out to France 13 months ago.
Previous to joining the forces deceased was employed as a piecer at Mr. George Hardman's Grane Road Mill, Haslingden.
He was well known and highly respected in the district, and was on the roll of honour at St. James Parish Church, where a memorial service in his honour was held on Sunday last.  At the close of the service the organist played "The Dead March" and members of the Boys Brigade, of which he was formerly a member, sounded the "Last Post".
