Newspaper Memorials:

In loving memory of our dear son Private John Henry Barnes, who died December 28th, 1918, at the 19th Stationary hospital, Port Amelia East Africa.

"We look at your picture that hangs on the wall,
With the smile on your face, we ever recall;
We miss you God knows and mourn you unseen,
And dwell on the memories of days that have been."

From his sorrowing Father and Mother, 32 Piccadilly Street, Haslingden.

"May the heavenly winds blow softly,
O'er that sweet and hallowed spot,
Though the sea divides his grave from us,
He will never be forgot."

From his Brother, Sister and Nephew, 32 Piccadilly Street, Haslingden.

"We little thought when we said good-bye,
We parted for ever and you were to die;
Oh, the grief that we feel words cannot tell,
For we could not be with you to bid you farewell.

Too far away thy grave to see,
Yet we will always think of thee."

From his sorrowing Father, Mother, Sister, Brother in law (in France), and Newphew, 32 Piccadilly Street, Haslingden.
