HASLINGDEN SOLDIER HERO

Second Lieutenant H.H. Warburton, who died from wounds received in action on September 9th, was the son of Mr. William Warburton, a Haslingden gentleman who is a well known musician, and who for some years has resided at 62, Avenue Parade, Accrington.

Lieutenant Warburton would have attained his 21st birthday on November 3rd next.  He received his commission on December 16th 1915, after serving five months with the Inns of Court O.T.C., and joined the Lancashire Fusiliers, afterwards transferring to the Machine Gun Corpos on February 27th 1916.  He went out to France on the 8th of August.  Previous to joining the Army he was at the Rawtenstall branch of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank.
