PRIVATE JOHN O'HARA KILLED. ENLISTED EARLY IN THE WAR


Information is to hand of the death (killed in action) of Private John O'Hara (about 26) of the East Lancashire Regiment.  Deceased was married and formerly resided at Cockerill Street, off Marsden Square, Haslingden, but his wife and child (a boy) reside now at Cloughfold.  He was a spinner at Worsley's Vine Grove Mill.  An unmarried sister of deceased's resides at Rock Hall, Haslingden, and a married sister (Mrs. Stubbings) resides at Tower-Street, Oswaldtwistle.  Private O'Hara was connected with St. Marys R.C. Church, Haslingden.  He enlisted soon after war broke out and served in the Dardanelles and later in France. At one time he was attached to the Royal Engineers.  He has been twice home on leave.  He was killed on a Monday afternoon.  His leave was due on the evening of the same day.
